Terms of License & Service

When you purchase a StoryScrib Studio License, StoryScrib grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, perpetual license to install, activate, and use the software on up to 10 personal computing devices (including 2 macOS, 2 Windows PC, 2 Linux workstations, 2 Mobile phones, and 2 Tablet installations) concurrently, provided they are owned and operated by the same registered license holder.

StoryScrib is built with a Zero-Backend architecture. StoryScrib does not maintain centralized servers or cloud databases to store, monitor, or sync your writing. The application operates 100% locally on your computer with zero telemetry or data ingestion.

StoryScrib does not impose artificial online DRM or require periodic internet authentication to keep writing. Once activated, your software will run completely offline indefinitely.

Version 1.x Updates Included: Your purchase entitles you to all Version 1.x releases (e.g., v1.1, v1.2, v1.9) free of charge, covering all continuous improvements, bug fixes, engine enhancements, and added tools released throughout the Version 1 lifecycle.

Major Generational Upgrades (v1 to v2): In the future, when a major generational overhaul is released (Version 2.0), existing Version 1 license holders will be offered a heavily discounted upgrade price. Upgrading is completely optional. Your Version 1 installation will continue functioning on your system perpetually, and your project files will remain completely accessible.

You own 100% of everything you write and create. All text, manuscripts, chapters, outlines, character sheets, world bible codexes, timeline entries, notes, and exported PDF/ePub/DOCX manuscripts generated in StoryScrib remain the sole intellectual property of the author.

StoryScrib claims no ownership, no copyright, no licensing rights, and no royalty share in any works created using the software. Because StoryScrib operates no backend servers, StoryScrib never receives, reads, scrapes, or licenses your writing.

StoryScrib provides optional AI-assisted tools (ScribAI) designed exclusively for developmental diagnostics, continuity checks, dialogue feedback, and brainstorming.

• Disabled by Default (Opt-In Only): All AI features are completely disabled by default upon installation. No AI processes, background connections, or prompts run unless you explicitly choose to enable them in Settings. StoryScrib operates with 100% full fidelity as a pure, traditional writing desk without AI.
• Local AI Engines (Ollama, LM Studio, KoboldCPP): When enabled with a local engine, models run entirely on your device's GPU/CPU. Zero data ever leaves your computer.
• Cloud AI Providers (BYOK): When enabled with cloud providers, users connect directly using their own private API keys (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, OpenRouter). Requests are sent straight from your device to your selected provider. StoryScrib does not route your manuscripts through proprietary middleware servers or use your prose to train foundation models.

Global Stripe Checkout: Payments are processed worldwide through Stripe in over 195 countries across 135+ currencies, accepting major credit cards, debit cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay with zero foreign transaction friction.

30-Day Refund Policy: If StoryScrib is not the right fit for your novel drafting workflow, contact us within 30 days of purchase for a prompt, full refund—no questions asked.

60-Day Unrestricted Trial: We offer a 60-writing-day full evaluation trial so you can write a substantial portion of your book before deciding to purchase. No credit card is required to begin the trial.

You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or circumvent license key validation mechanisms of the software, nor distribute pirated license keys or sub-license the software to unauthorized third parties. Commercial publication, sale, and monetization of your own manuscripts created in StoryScrib is 100% permitted and encouraged.
